Dr. Mitchell Higashi - Health Economics Research Professional at ISPOR

Health economics research professional Mitchell Higashi serves as the associate chief science officer with the International Society for Pharmacoeconomic and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). His primary role includes managing the organization’s documentation and publications, including conference content, and overseeing the round table and policy and research groups' publications. Since 2023, Mitchell Higashi's highlights include co-chairing the organization’s annual meeting, which included 2000 attendees. As part of the meeting, he organized and moderated a panel of experts from the Food and Drug Administration, IBM, Google, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on the role of AI in healthcare research.

Dr. Higashi earned a bachelor of science in biotechnology from the University of Columbia before pursuing a doctorate in health economics and outcomes research from the University of Washington in Seattle. He also attended Wharton’s Advanced Management Program, a course designed to equip senior executives with knowledge and skills on the latest business practices and trends, as well as instill a deeper leadership philosophy and presence.

In line with his profession, Mitchell Higashi, PhD, has made numerous presentations to various groups, including members of Congress on measuring healthcare value, and at the FlatIron Research Summit in 2018. His publications cover regulatory purposes in oncology and a National Institutes of Health-funded dissertation on precision medicine.
